Our villa doorbells have a special story and a unique look thanks to their creator, The Artist Known as Mabi.
Mabi lives in our neighbouring village, Malambo, and also makes beautifully-crafted massage sticks and little mekoro for us at Royal Chundu. Now you’ll be able to purchase his hand-carved beaded doorbells for your own home or as a gift to a loved one ~ for $35 each.
*The beads used depend on what the artist has available.
Mabi was born without the use of his legs, due to polio, leaving him to use his knees as feet. He has never let this stop him in life, whether needing to go fishing in his mokoro or creating incredible wooden artworks that the world has noticed. Mabi’s unique crafts are an extension of his for his kind, hardworking spirit and being able to help him support himself gives us great joy.
